In 1859 Charles Darwin explained how economies, jazz and everything else evolved ... an extravagant claim? ... yes but relentlessly, every day, the supporting evidence mounts ... this website is a tribute to
one of the men who made the understanding of complexity possible ... a
dwarf standing on the shoulders of an army of ancient ancestral giants can see a
long way ...
OK I know these pages aren't very smart yet ... they're still evolving ... and I guess you think that economics and jazz are a bit 'way out' ... are they really adaptations? ... here you will find a light hearted Darwinian look see ....
Economists are involved more and more in policy analysis but the 'dismal science' is often locked into simple models with unrealistic assumptions and bum predictions. Evolutionary Economics tries to avoid these pitfalls ...
Music is enjoyed everywhere and some folk even have a go at jazz but it's not easy and most jazz teachers tend to ignore the early innovations in 'Dixieland' which started it all ...
If you have any interest in these ideas maybe some of the pages here will generate more enthusiasm ... and maybe some insights ... all these notes have been accumulated over the years to help me with my own studies ...
... if only I'd had some of this stuff available when I started !
